When it comes to these three particular artists from your childhood,  you become nostalgic and flashbacks (dancing in your room in front of a mirror) to “Dance With You” come racing back.

Rishi Rish, Juggy D and Jay Sean have been hinting about a collaboration for YEARS! When the collaboration suddenly had become a reality,Freak was billed the most anticipating track of the decade.

While most of us are off during the weekends, sadly the charts (iTunes in particular) don’t get the weekend off. Freak currently (26/09/15) sits at number 86 on the UK iTunes charts.

But despite a slow start on the charts, the track echoes a labour of love for their fans. Thousands of fans across the Indian sub-continent rushed to buy the track at midnight after the announcement that Universal Music India had taken the rights for Freak in that territory.

These three artists…three best friends….three brothers. After a decade, it’s nice to see them reunite once again. Just don’t make us wait another ten years!

Put Down The Desi Daroo And Support Your Local Music Artists

22Mar

POSTED BY

support-your-localI wish I saw more of this! Speaking from personal experience, why do people not support local artists? I’m talking about the South Asians mainly. If you look at the white kids, they absolutely love their local artists and bands. They would do anything to support them, have it be a concert at a local dive bar, a radio-hosted event, an appearance at t nightclub – you name it. I just don’t see this happening in the South Asian community, mainly with the younger South Asian generation.

Smashing good looks. Check. An amazing singing voice. Check. A heart of gold. Double Check! Ask anyone who has met him, he truly resonates humility and elegant charm. He’s been a ladies’ man since day one and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. Get a sneak peek of his charm in our favorite H-Dhami song Haar Gabroo.

2. Imran Khan

Females often tell us how sexy he is. “He’s someone I would totally do naughty things with!” said one female fan. Well, you know what? We don’t blame her because there’s just something about Imran’s bad-boy persona and talent that attracts all types of females. Want a lil’ taste of his bad-boy flavor? Check him out in one of his sexiest music videos Bewafa.

1. Jay Sean

Jay Sean is a Grade A, certified ladies man! This guy has specialized in making the girls go complete gaga. Not only because of his striking good looks but, his amazing ability to sing  dreamy ballads that really send the ladies into orbit. Jay Sean has proven time and time again that he will always be in the hearts of most South Asian ladies! We can’t get enough of him in our favorite song Ride It.

Whitney Houston: A triple threat talent…

12Feb

POSTED BY

Screen Shot 2012-02-12 at 9.21.31 AM

I’m still in shell-shock over Whitney Houston’s death, I saw the breaking news story come up on my fb timeline. I googled it and all the articles confirmed the worst – Whitney Houston, Dead at 48.  Growing up in the 80s, there were two stars I always looked forward to seeing on the TV and they were Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Their songs were truly iconic during that tremulous decade. Whitney had this caliber talent to carry a tune, to the point where most of us would of gone breathless – she could still harmoniously sync to the beat.

I’ll remember Whitney as a triple threat. She could sing, dance and act. As I mention on my facebook, if you are remotely BLESSED with one of those talents it can take you far – but if you have all three – there’s NO LIMITS to your potential. However the demons Whitney faced, like so many of our talented superstars were drugs. She coined the term on the 2002 Diane Sawyer interview “crack is whack” that open a can of worms for comedians to poke fun at her. Right now there’s silence, no one is laughing – all we hear is her amazing vocals coming out of our speakers, TVs, computers and smart phones.

People are suspecting the cause of death had to do with drugs, we won’t know until the coroner report comes out. In my opinion, I think her heart just gave out on her. Dr. Drew talked about addict recovery on CNN, if he had been treating Whitney, he would of advised her to take two years off. In 2010, Whitney told Oprah she was clean, I think she just bit off more than she could chew and it killed her. For those of us who have dealt with drugs issues, whether its our own or family/friends, the rule is take one day at a time. Sometimes planning ahead can lead to one’s demise.

I’ll miss Whitney. But like all great artists, her legacy will live through her music and talent. Be sure to watch the Grammys tonight, Jennifer Hudson will pay special tribute to Whitney Houston.

Jay Sean Still Sporting The Pout

Picture 11

Another new video from Jay Sean “Like This, Like That” whether you love or hate the video, we caught him sporting his signature pout. Remember the same pout he used to do in the  2 point 9 videos — I’ve seen too many guys try to do it, but they end up looking like sick puppy dogs, I personally don’t find the pout — sexy. “Like This, Like That” is one of the songs from his new album Freeze Time (dropping July 5th) that I’m feeling, the rest of the songs just seem to be missing that cutting edge from Jay.

Where Does Jay Sean Go?

Last week, Jay Sean dropped a new song/video “Where Do We Go” some of his fans have raved that he was born to sing slow jams, but it leaves me wondering has his time run out with Cash Money? Clearly “Down” was no joke, it blew up the charts – but “2012” and “Hit The Lights” didn’t rock the charts. Even with Nikki Minaj (2012) and Lil Wayne (Hit The Lights) on featured those tracks. With his years of experience — especially after parting ways with Virgin Records, hopefully he has a back up plan with its time to say goodbye to Cash Money. In the meantime, if you are going through a breakup, put on this track….

2011 the year of Swami…

19Feb

POSTED BY

Picture 12

If I can pick any album I’m TRULY looking forward to, it would be Swami’s new album, I know the group were busy in the studio during 2010, but I know the wait will be worth it! S-Endz sent us an update…

But 2010 was a significant year for another reason. That reason is XXXXXX – aka the new Swami album that has been a long time in the making. It’s so close, I promise you that. Not only did I co-write every song – I also rap on all of them and sing on some. It’s the album that will define us for generations to come. I can feel it. I’ve never been more proud of any work I’ve done than I am of this album

and what about S-Endz debut album?? I’m still jamming to Outer Space, but I’m itching for some new music, as a Valentines Gift to all his friends and fans, he gave us a sneaky peak of Fashion II with Kazz Kumar

My Neosouljas, I wish I had more news to share on my debut album, “Emanate”. I know I’ve been promising it for three years now, but the reasons for the delay are simple…. I REFUSE to settle for “good enough”. After all – you only get once chance to make your debut album. I’m not like all these other artists that force their sub-standard work on the world, even going as far as shooting music videos for weak, emulative, pathetic songs in the hopes of garnering some airplay on the most niche of channels.

The positive news is that I am VERY happy with a great deal of what’s been recorded, and I hope to have more news to share soon.

Beyond “Emanate”, the follow-up is titled and conceptualized. Neofunk is about to hit a new level in the next 12 months. Get ready.

Bring it on S-Endz… Bring it on! Hopefully we are one of the channels you will consider showcasing your tracks!

Wiley Brings on a Desi MC…

Earlier last night, Wiley has been vigorously promoting his tour, he extended an invitation to his hater base to come see him live, maybe they will have a change of heart after the show. He’s invited a Desi MC to come up on stage with him, not sure if it’s for the whole tour or just one show. The Jay Sean and Wiley banter has calm down over the last week, but there are still some “ethnic banter” floating around. I wouldn’t even go as far as calling it ethnic banter, but just pure banter.

From @WileyArtist – “if you hate wiley you defo need to be there cos by the end of the night yoou would of changed your views ive got an asian mc ready to mc”

Wiley, we are looking forward to part 2 of your interview on Bobby “Bob” Friction show.
