Put Down The Desi Daroo And Support Your Local Music Artists

support-your-localI wish I saw more of this! Speaking from personal experience, why do people not support local artists? I’m talking about the South Asians mainly. If you look at the white kids, they absolutely love their local artists and bands. They would do anything to support them, have it be a concert at a local dive bar, a radio-hosted event, an appearance at t nightclub – you name it. I just don’t see this happening in the South Asian community, mainly with the younger South Asian generation.

Break Your Back

I think Jay Sean has to keep a close eye on who he keeps company with, to me, this is another song that got out a little too soon. I’m not going to pass judgment on it, I’m sure it needs a couple of more trips to the studio before we hear the complete version. Do you think some artist let these things happen on purpose? Then they complain “my music gets leaked too soon” and then they are still the talk of the bloggers (including myself). Whose the real genius here? It’s like celebrities and their sex tapes, the same story “some maid” or “some burglar” got a hold of the sex tape. Or is the celebrity the real culprit?

Those DJ shoutouts are annoying, but you won’t see this video on youtube (it was on there – but got muted). I think Jay Sean’s folks are like the “big brother” of youtube, the “burglar” has gotten smart and just put it on of facebook.

Jay Sean’s new album “Freeze Time” will be out November 2nd

Jay Sean’s 2012 Music Video

Picture 23

According to a tweet from Jay Sean (poor bloke was trapped in an elevator today) the video leaked and this isn’t the “official” video, despite it’s title. The official one will have a BIG ENDING to it… hmmm “free my lil weezy” I’m thinking maybe a cameo from Lil Wayne? He’s out of jail in about 70 something days??? In the mean time though, enjoy the 2012 video with Jay Sean featuring Nicki Minaj.

We are gonna party like its… 2012?

I’m still partying like it’s 1999… you can’t walk through an isle in a book store, without some author banking on the “fact” the world is going to end in 2012, just like the whole y2k hype…I’m still here… and you are too… reading this blog… Jay Sean flipped 2012 around and has made it in another “we are gonna party like the world is going to end” track…remember though, this isn’t the “official” release… it sounds like a rough cut to me… like that time the bootlegged version of “Maybe” leaked… we heard “myspace” in one version and “facebook” in another… no word yet on when Jay’s new album is coming out, the crazy thing is I was just thinking the other day – Down was blasting every where… where is Jay Sean??? Enjoy this track….

Sizzling Single F/Lil Wayne Also Reached #1 On Rhythmic Crossover

U.S. Debut Album All Or Nothing In-Stores November 24th

New York, NY, October 6, 2009—  Cash Money/Universal Republic UK newcomer Jay Sean has done it again – sending his sultry signature single “Down” (featuring Cash Money Icon Lil Wayne) into another #1 orbit on the Billboard Hot 100 dethroning the Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feeling” 26 week run at the top and jumping from #3 to #1 on the prestigious Top 40 Radio Chart (Source: MediaBase & BDS).   The platinum-plus “Down,” which reached the coveted 1 million digital singles sales plateau after only 2 months of release, already garnered the #1 position on the Rhythmic Crossover chart last week. The irresistible song was also the Greatest Gainer at Rhythmic Radio (for over a month) and the Top 40 format, before finally overtaking the penthouse position at the format. The stunning achievement also marks the first time a Cash Money artist secured the #1 post at Top 40 Radio Chart.  The song has also locked down the top spot on Canada’s Pop radio chart.

“Jay Sean’s tremendous success proves the Cash Money creed that great music and great artists know no boundaries,” stated Ronald ‘Slim’ Williams, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Cash Money Records.   “We congratulate Jay and thank the Universal Republic staff for their hard work in locking down the #1 slot in so many platforms.  We’ve only just begun.”

The infectious single has held a Top 5 Lockdown on the competitive iTunes chart since it hit the digital domain, climbing to # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in near-record time.  “Down” is also lighting up the video and online arenas, hitting the # 1 spot on the top urban/Hip Hop Countdown at Fuse in mid-September, and scoring as Top Ten video staple on VH’1’s popular Countdown show. The video has also become a youtube phenomenon, snaring millions of views as it becomes one of 2009’s most popular clips.

The soaring hit has scored the most impressive array of chart-topping, stateside breakthroughs for a new UK artist this year, and is among the best performing singles of 2009 in any genre. Most recently, the BBC has lauded the star as one of the ‘most successful male UK urban artists in chart history.’  Jay Sean’s U.S. debut album, All Or Nothing, will hit stores and digital/mobile destinations on November 24th.

The first UK artist to be signed by iconic hip hop imprint Cash Money, the savvy hitmaker, by way of London, already has two internationally acclaimed albums under his belt, a mantle-full of awards and several Top Ten hits plastered across the UK and other countries.  Other songs on All Or Nothing include “Ride It,” and “War,” among others. Featured guests include Cash Money and Universal Republic labelmates Lil Wayne and Kevin Rudolf.

Jay Sean has also been honored recently with an invite from superstar Justin Timberlake to perform at a charity event close to the ex-‘N Sync frontman’s heart, the Justin Timberlake And Friends Concert Benefiting Shriners Hospitals For  Children, to be held in Las Vegas, NV on October 17th. Other stars slated to appear include Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, and Snoop Dogg, among others.  The show will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international organization that provides care and special treatment and awareness programs on behalf of children across the globe.
