Electro Dil Puts a Funk to a Beat

Last month, in London, @BeatWala produced Desi Dance Beat featuring @PrymmeMusic. The tracks on the album have electro funk with a desi twist. It’s refreshing to see artists and producers to fuse music together to make some killer beats, half the time when it comes to fusion, we are seeing more and more producers just throwing tracks down as trends, rather then taking it seriously. Check out Electro Dil below…

Raghav’s “So Much” featuring Kardinal Offishall, just made Canada’s Top 10 emerging artist list… everyone has the reese peanut butter cup fever! I love that “mmm” sound he does in the second verse, the song is pretty catchy! I can’t wait to see what else comes out of his upcoming album “The Phoenix” … the neodesi remix featuring H-Dhami has a nice beat to it.  I would love to see both of them on stage! Congrats to Raghav and team for making it to the top 10! buy So Much here

The eccentric British Indian pop/alternative/bhangra band – Swami, is Urban Desi Radio’s Artist of the Week. Even though Swami is referred to a Hindu teacher, the name is an abbreviation for “So Who Am I” (something I just learn right now) they been keeping busy these days…they did several shows in Canada this summer (Sugarless Tour)… check out the clips of S-Endz and Diamond at a studio in Toronto.. wicked stuff.

S-Endz and I we had a little twitter banter interview and he revealed the band was working on their next album. They are one of the first groups in the British Desi scene, I recall who really made use out of ustream to connect with their fans… I remember seeing clips of their band practice, it really gave the fans up close and personal insight of what goes on during a Swami Band practice.

I can’t wait for their new album… but still jamming to sugarless (awesome track)

The sultry and seductive voice of Mira Veda is back!! I know her fans are eagerly awaiting her second album, she recently finished shooting a music video for her single. Check it out and download Captivated! I’ve played it on the Junction, it’s gotten a lot of positive feedback. Mira has been keeping busy…she serves on the board for the Recording Academy, blogs on the Huffington Post and is one of the founding members of Lipsticks and Politics (lipsticksandpolitics.com). I fell in love with her first album “Infinite Love” (some of the tracks are on UDR 24hr music player) … this second album is long overdue!!! Bring it on Mira!

This is so adorable and rocking! Check this out, one of Swami’s fans, Romy (age 9) drew a picture of the group! I loved how Romy had Bobby give a little wave! So cute!!! This is definitely work of art, if it doesn’t make front cover of the album… perhaps it can be put inside the album booklet… or made into a retro t-shirt for all of Swami fans to enjoy!!!

“2012” will be out on iTunes on August 3rd and the video will be debuting on MTV August 8th! Nicki Minaj is featured on the track. The bootlegged version was hijacked and put on youtube. It was quickly taken down and replaced with an instrumental track. The song made it’s radio debut on the Panjabi Hit Squad show,  with Rav and Dee, on the BBC Asian Network. It’s been making its way on the airwaves here in the states…check out the behind the scene videos of 2012…
